Understanding Sinusitis
Sinusitis (also known as rhinosinusitis) is an inflammation or swelling of the tissue lining the sinuses — the air-filled cavities located around the nasal passages, cheeks, forehead, and between the eyes.
Sinusitis affects approximately 1 in 8 adults annually and can be acute (lasting less than 4 weeks), subacute (4-12 weeks), chronic (12+ weeks), or recurrent (multiple episodes per year).
Did You Know? Chronic sinusitis affects over 30 million people in the US alone and is one of the most common reasons for doctor visits.
